Championship

It's that time!  Let's get ready for the championship meet together.  We have made some league changes to fix issues that arose last year particularly in the morning session.  While SRAC allows us to use the facilities, they no longer host the event per say.  Each team is fully responsible for the flow of its own swimmers.

When you go to the meet event, you will need to mark your swimmer as "attending" or "not attending."  Please let us know which is it asap.  I must have the meet built and submitted Thursday the 24th.  That means registration for swimmers must close Tuesday night at 11PM.  I will need several hours on Wednesday to confirm swimmers and build the two meets.  The sooner you respond, the sooner I can start building.

You will also see the jobs list.  It is different than for other meets.  All teams will have a seating area in the gym.  Parents and swimmers are expected to be there.  When a child is up to head to the gym, the parents may go to watch the event and then return to the gym.  There is a path for this.  Here is what we need.

We will have a coach calling the events from the pool deck.  We will have a coach in the gym telling our team which kids to line up next.  We will need a parent from each listed group on the job sheet to volunteer to take that group of kids to the gym.  You will take them to Rachael who will tell you when to take them to the head of the pool.  Then you can sit and watch them and take them back when they are done.  This is not especially difficult and ensures that you spend quality time with your swimmer and see each of his/her events.  I have tried to divide the task in a way that makes sense.

For example, let's say I am Rylah's mom (wink), I might sign up for the relay job and for the breast and fly events job because she is generally in those.  When I hear those event being called to line up, I just grab Rylah and the rest of the kids in those events and we head to the pool.  Since Rylah knows the kids she swims with, they are easy enough to find.

Please note: You DO NOT have to go find kids who are not in the gym where they belong.  Rylah may actually not be there nor Royce.  Because my entire family is working in some capacity, we may have them with us.  Rowan always finds his way so if you are doing 11-12 boys and you don't see him in the gym when it is time.  Don't worry, take who you have.  At that age, we try to help but it is on them to get where they are supposed to be.

I know we have some kids/parents who like to always be with their kids.  We have no issue with that.  Consider managing the other kids in the same group perhaps?  If not, please let that manager know that you have your kid and he/she will not have to escort him/her.

If you want to do photography, please do not sign up for that until all the other jobs are full.  We do not need photos nearly as much as we need parents helping kids.

Side-note for pool awareness:  There will be no parent set-ups allowed from the pool entry doors on the corner of the building to the entry doors that lead to the main part of the building.  That line is the starting end for the AM meet and has to be fully clear for coaches and swimmers.  The TigerSharks are working with their parents to not set up and take up too much space but I assure you that there is plenty of room to see if we all flow in and out as intended.

There will be more info to follow as we get closer.  For now, please let us know whether or not your swimmer/s is/are coming and consider signing up for one of the jobs.
